Black Stars winning bonuses halved

After a meeting with the Youth and Sports minister designate  Isaac Asiamah, the Black Stars have agreed for their winning bonuses to be slashed by %50.

Prior to the tournament, the team’s winning bonuses had been slashed by outgone minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuije from $10,000 to $8,000.

The players were reported to have asked for a re-instatement of the figure with the arrival of the new Nana Akufo Addo-led government only to withdraw the request, suggesting that they will accept any amount.

After the meeting between the new minister and the players, an agreement has been reached thus slashing the fee by a whooping %50.

A special press conference was held for the announcement of the bonus-slash.

This means that the Black Stars will now earn $5000 per win at the tournament for the group stages as well as the quarterfinal stage,  $6000 for the semifinal and $7500 for the final.

We are going to have a stake holders meeting to discuss payments for all national teams but in the interim we have held a meeting with the players of the national team and they have agreed to a 50% slash in their bonuses”.

“They have understood the situation we are in and also understand that the fans and the general public have spoken. The players understand this.” the minister said

The team have however been promised a special package if they win the ultimate title in Gabon.
