Didi Dramani urges caution despite Hearts of Oak’s Democracy Cup triumph

Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has called for patience and perspective after guiding his side to a narrow 1-0 victory over Great Olympics in the 2025 Democracy Cup on Friday at the Legon Sports Stadium.
A solitary strike from Kwesi Asmah proved enough for the Phobians to see off their city rivals and lift the second edition of the regional clash.
The victory caps a strong pre-season for Hearts, who have already claimed silverware in the 2025 Gbese Mantse Homowo Cup—beating Heart of Lions 2-0—and impressed in the GHALCA Top Four, where they edged sworn rivals Kotoko and pushed champions Gold Stars close.
Despite the momentum, Dramani insists the Phobians are still very much a team in transition.
“It’s still early days yet, we are ready to play [the new league campaign] but there is still a lot of work to improve on,” the coach said post-match.
“We are a developmental team, it’s a work in progress, so there are still some areas to work on before we become more formidable.”
Hearts will now switch focus to their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League opener against debutants Hohoe United on Friday, September 12, under the floodlights at the Accra Sports Stadium.
