Dzifa Gomashie clarifies use of GHS90K NLA funds for health project

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has denied claims that she misused the GHS90,000 support she received from the National Lottery Authority (NLA), saying the funds were used solely for community development purposes.
Addressing the media at the Anoenu CHPS compound, Madam Gomashie explained that the money was obtained through the NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility Fund to rehabilitate and expand the health facility, not for personal use.
“That was exactly what I used the money for; not a dime was spent by me. So, it is ridiculous for anyone to say that I will take state money and spend it for myself,” she said, speaking to the media at the premises of the Anoenu CHPS compound.
She detailed that the funds were used to remodel the facility, add extra rooms, and provide essential equipment, sanitary pads, and borehole water to meet the reproductive health needs of residents.
“It was a one-room [facility] which I inherited from my predecessor, with a shed in front of it. As we speak, I was able to use that money and more to put up extra rooms, give them equipment, subscribe, and build the water closet [facility] that I indicated,” she said.
Madam Gomashie added that the project team had initially planned to buy a poly tank, but on the advice of the Municipal Assembly Engineer, they instead constructed a mechanised borehole to ensure a reliable water supply.
The Minister reaffirmed that the entire GHS90,000 was spent on the rehabilitation of the Anoenu CHPS compound, explaining that the initiative was aimed at improving healthcare delivery for her constituents.
