FC St. Pauli sweating on the fitness of Daniel-Kofi Kyereh ahead of Sandhausen tie

Ghanaian attacking midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is a huge doubt for his side FC St Pauli when they take on SV Sandhausen later this afternoon in the German Bundesliga II game.

St Pauli head coach Timo Schulz is sweating over the fitness of the influential midfielder who has been literally leading the promotion push.

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has scored 11 goals whiles making 10 assist in 26 matches for his side.

He sustained an injury in their 1-1 drawn game against Werder Bremen which he scored his side’s only goal and is a huge doubt for their game later this morning.

According to his coach the Ghanaian midfielder sustained a thigh injury and is racing against time and will need to pass a late fitness test if he is to feature.

“Kofi has had thigh problems since the game against Werder Bremen,” said the 44-year-old at the press conference on the game.

“We hope that we can get this under control as soon as possible, but we won’t take any risks,” emphasized the coach.

St.Pauli are chasing for promotion to the Bundesliga and are currently third on the table 52 points.
