Frederick Acheampong, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has achieved a significant victory in his political career by winning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary for the Ahafo Ano South East constituency.

The primary saw Acheampong triumph over four other aspirants.

Acheampong secured an impressive 164 votes, outshining his closest competitor, Obeng Boateng, who garnered 88 votes.

This success positions Acheampong as a potential candidate in the 2024 general elections, where he could represent the people of Ahafo Ano South East in parliament.

As a prominent figure in Ghanaian football, Acheampong faces the challenge of balancing his roles in football administration, particularly as a member of the GFA Executive Council and a CAF official, with the demands of campaigning for a parliamentary seat.

The intense nature of political campaigns requires significant time and energy.

Despite these challenges, Acheampong remains focused on the opportunity to serve his country and contribute to its development.

He expressed gratitude to the NPP delegates and members in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency for their support, pledging to work tirelessly for victory in the upcoming elections.

Acheampong’s victory in the primary has sparked excitement within the football community, with many congratulating him on this milestone.

However, questions have been raised about how he will navigate the dual responsibilities of football administration and parliamentary duties if he succeeds in the general elections.
