Ghana Premier League: Asante Kotoko held to a goalless stalemate by neighbours Nations FC

Nations FC and Asante Kotoko played out a goalless draw at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Week 5 of the Ghana Premier League, with the hosts stretching their unbeaten record against Kotoko to five matches.

The match was a tight tactical affair, with few clear-cut chances. Kotoko came closest to breaking the deadlock when Morifing Donzu latched onto a Peter Acquah through ball, only to see his effort comfortably saved by goalkeeper Hadina Bariu.

Kotoko’s defence remains unbreached this season, showcasing organizational strength, and grit under Karim Zito whereas Nations FC, led by Kasim Mingle, struggled to create openings and are now winless since their opening-day victory over Swedru All Blacks.

The Abrankese-based Nations FC will look to bounce back against Dreams FC in their next fixture, with the aim of breaking the jinx by recording a victory over the Still Believe boys.

Asante Kotoko, however, will shift focus to continental duty, preparing for a CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round clash against Wydad Athletic Club on October 19.

With Kotoko’s defensive solidity and Nations FC’s head-to-head resilience, the draw adds another layer to a growing rivalry — one that continues to deliver tension, if not goals.
