Ghana Premier League: Hohoe United head coach Abdul Rahim targets upset against Hearts in season opener

Hohoe United head coach Abdul Bashiru Tijani has promised to shock giants Hearts of Oak when the two sides clash in the opening game of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League on Friday night.
The newly promoted side make their top-flight debut at the Accra Sports Stadium, with President John Dramani Mahama expected to grace the occasion.
Bashiru is no stranger to the Ghanaian elite league, having previously worked with Legon Cities and also served as both assistant and interim head coach at Hearts of Oak. Now at the helm of Hohoe United, the ambitious tactician says he is ready to prove a point.
“Ghanaians will feel the presence of Hohoe United in the Ghana Premier League this season. I’m not under pressure because I have been there as a coach of Hearts of Oak before. I’m going into this game just to make name for myself,” Bashiru told reporters.
With the Phobians keen to make a strong start to the campaign and Hohoe United determined to announce their arrival in style, tonight’s encounter promises fireworks as both sides chase maximum points.
