Ghana Premier League: We want to control the game against Karela on Sunday- Ibrahim Tanko

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has put personal celebrations on pause to focus on his team’s Ghana Premier League matchday 3 fixture against Karela United in Tamale, scheduled for this weekend.
Fresh off marrying his long-time partner Ruweida Abubakar, Tanko cut short his honeymoon to resume club duties, determined to maintain Medeama’s perfect start to the 2025/26 season.
“Like any other game, they have a very good team and they have new players with a very good coach behind them,” Tanko told Medeama TV.
“It doesn’t matter if we are playing home or away. We want to control the game and definitely this is what we are going to do.”
Tanko’s side has dominated possession and dictated tempo in their first two matches, showcasing tactical maturity and attacking flair.
While Kingsley Braye, last season’s top scorer, and new signing Salim Adams are yet to feature this season, Tanko remains cautious about squad selection.
“I hope everyone will stay fit. In this kind of games, you will only know on Saturday or Sunday to know the team,” he added.
Victory in Tamale would extend Medeama’s winning streak to three and solidify their early-season title credentials. Karela United, meanwhile, will be eager to bounce back after a mixed start.
