Ghana teenager Caleb Yirenkyi has continued his meteoric rise after being ranked among the top ten U20 defensive midfielders in Europe outside the traditional top five leagues, according to the latest CIES Football Observatory report.

The 19-year-old FC Nordsjaelland star has been one of the standout performers in the Danish Superliga, establishing himself as one of the most reliable young midfielders in Scandinavia.

Primarily deployed as a defensive midfielder, Yirenkyi has also demonstrated versatility when filling in at right-back, earning plaudits for his tactical intelligence and composure on the ball.

According to the CIES data, Yirenkyi ranked fourth overall with a score of 71.1, just behind Danish-born Ghanaian Noah Nartey of Brøndby IF.

A graduate of Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, Yirenkyi has already attracted transfer interest from several European clubs, though no move materialised during the recent window.

This season, he has one goal and two assists in seven league appearances, further underlining his consistency and impact for Nordsjaelland.

Internationally, Yirenkyi’s reputation continues to grow. He made his Black Stars debut at the Unity Cup in London and recently featured in Ghana’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, where his calmness and versatility drew praise from both fans and pundits.

With his stock on the rise, Yirenkyi is increasingly tipped for a breakthrough transfer to one of Europe’s elite leagues in the near future.
