I want to be first white boss to win a trophy for Ghana- Fabrizio Ravanelli

The Italian football tactician has confirmed that he has submitted his CV for perusal by the GFA and says he wants to be the first white coach to win the African Cup of Nation trophy and other major cups for the Black Stars.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Ashh FM, Ravanelli 48 said he wants to be the first non Ghanaian manager to end Ghana’s 35-year trophy drought considering the fact that no foreign coach has won a major trophy for the senior national team.

“I want to be the first white boss to win the African cup with the help of the technical staff led by me of course” he said

Of the four African Cupm of Nations trophies Ghana boasts of, no foreign coach guided the team to victory with Ghanaian coaches Charles Gyamfi and Fred Osam-Duodu doing the nation the honours.

Fabrizio Ravanelli does not have any experience on African spoil but believes he is well placed to lead the Black Stars to higher heights based on his engagements with Juventus youth team and French Ligue 1 club AC Ajaccio.

“It is important to work very hard and when you work hard and you are professional everything is possible. I have a very good program and every result is possible…I am very ready for this new job and I think it is a very good experience for me” he emphasised

Ghana parted ways with Israeli coach Avram Grant whose contract came to an end after finishing fourth in the just ended AFCON tournament in Gabon.

Assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been appointed interim coach of the team with several coaches both foreign and local believed to be interested in the job.

Former Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Razak “Golden Boy” has reportedly tended in his application for the role as well.
