Kofi Adams calls for expanded video analysis team ahead of World Cup

Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to strengthen the Black Stars’ video analysis department as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Currently, Belgian coach Gregory de Grauwe serves as the sole video analyst, while also handling set-piece duties. Though praised for his tactical input and UEFA B Licence credentials, Adams believes Ghana must scale up to remain competitive on the global stage.
“The area of the video analyst must be improved… I don’t think we should go to the World Cup with two video analysts,” Adams told UTV.
“We should have video analysts at the World Cup.”
The Need For Video Analysis
Modern football demands data-driven insights, including:
- Opponent scouting and pattern recognition
- Set-piece optimization
- Player performance tracking
- In-game tactical adjustments
With Ghana aiming to bounce back from their group-stage exit at Qatar 2022, a robust backroom setup could be pivotal in shaping a deeper run at the 2026 tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Key Dates Ahead:
- World Cup Draw: December 5, 2025
- Friendlies: vs Japan & South Korea (late November)
- Tournament Kickoff: Summer 2026
