Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has acknowledged the slim chances of winning the Ghana Premier League title heading into the final round of matches, but he remains determined to end the season with silverware by targeting the FA Cup.

Kotoko boosted their faint league hopes with a hard-fought 3-2 comeback victory over Medeama SC at home over the weekend, inspired by a stunning hat-trick from forward Albert Amoah.

The win keeps them mathematically in the title race, though the odds remain stacked against them.

Zito, who took over the team mid-season, has had a promising start, going unbeaten in his first five league matches with three wins and two draws.

Despite the turnaround in form, the experienced tactician has set realistic expectations, aiming to crown the season with a cup triumph.

“I have done my part,” Zito said in a recent interview. “I have played at least five matches, and I have been able to go through this point.

It is my prayer to win the FA Cup, then I will be satisfied at the end and let the technical director know I have done my best when I took over.”

Asante Kotoko will conclude their Premier League campaign with an away fixture against Vision FC this weekend.

Their final opportunity for silverware will come on June 15, 2025, when they face Golden Kick FC in the FA Cup final.
