Kwesi Nyatakyi tips Ghana and 4 other countries for AFCON title
Former Ghana Football Association President and Vice Chairman of the Confederation of Africa Football(CAF), Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi has tipped Ghana and some four other nations as favourites for the African Cup of Nations(AFCON) title.
He says that Ghana, Senegal, Mali, Morocco and reigning Champions Algeria are the favourites to win the title which starts in Cameroon on Sunday 9th January,2022.
The Desert Foxes of Algeria who defeated Ghana 3-0 in a friendly match last Wednesday won it the last time in Egypt and have been tipped by many as the overwhelming favourites.
Whiles Senegal who have been at the finals on several occasion including 2019 will be hoping to go one better this time round.
“Mali has invested massively in the development of players at the grassroots level. GMG Academy for instance has been doing great work at this,” Mr Nyantakyi told Accra based Onua TV on Friday in an interview.
“This has positioned Mali as one of the favourites for the tournament. Senegal, Morocco, and Algeria are the countries who can excel at the tournament,” he added.
The 33rd edition of the AFCON tournament kicks off on Sunday, January 9 with the finals set for February 6, 2022.
