A domestic dispute in Tamale has escalated into a community-wide controversy after a married woman was allegedly caught in an intimate encounter with a nursing student, prompting her husband to demand GH¢60,000 in compensation for what he describes as a grave violation of his marriage.

According to information gathered from community sources, the incident occurred when the husband reportedly returned home unexpectedly and found his wife in the company of the nursing student, who is said to be a colleague of the woman.

The situation quickly degenerated into a confrontation, during which the husband restrained the young man as the woman managed to flee the scene.

Residents who responded to the disturbance reportedly apprehended the student, leading to his detention by community members before the matter was formally reported to traditional authorities.

Sources say the husband later presented his case before the local chief, demanding financial compensation for what he described as humiliation and emotional distress caused by the alleged affair.

The amount being demanded—GH¢60,000—has since become a subject of intense public debate within the community.

Many residents have questioned the appropriateness and feasibility of such a sum, especially given indications that the accused student comes from a modest background and may be unable to raise the amount.

Community elders are said to be handling the matter under customary processes, with discussions ongoing between the families involved.

The husband has also reportedly informed the woman’s family and asked them to take responsibility for her belongings, signaling a possible breakdown of the marriage.
