Staff of the National Identification Authority under the Public Services Workers’ Union of the Trades Union Congress have announced that they will proceed with their planned nationwide indefinite strike from Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The workers are demanding the immediate approval and implementation of migration reports linked to their conditions of service.

In a statement jointly signed by union leaders Godsway Ayivor and Bismark Francis Bangfudem Nyuzaghl, members across the country were directed to withdraw their services from midnight on Tuesday until further notice.

Regional executives have also been tasked to monitor compliance with the strike action at all NIA offices nationwide.

The statement further instructed workers facing difficulties during the industrial action to report directly to divisional leaders for support and guidance.

The strike is expected to disrupt operations at NIA offices across Ghana, including Ghana Card registration, card replacement and other identification-related services.

Meanwhile, management of the NIA has appealed to the workers to suspend the industrial action and grant government an additional two weeks to complete processes related to the approval and implementation of the migration reports.
