Odartey Lamptey clarifies Eleven Wonders exit: “I wasn’t sacked”

Nii Odartey Lamptey has spoken publicly for the first time since resigning as head coach of Eleven Wonders, following the club’s 3–2 loss to Nations FC in Week 7 of the Ghana Premier League — a result that left the team 17th on the table with just two points.
“A lot of people called me from Kumasi saying I’d been sacked. I wasn’t sacked. I submitted my resignation letter to the club’s leadership,” Lamptey told Asempa FM.
The former Anderlecht and Aston Villa forward emphasized that his decision was personal, not forced, and rooted in his desire to support the club rather than chase accolades.
“I’ve already made my name. This job can’t add to or take anything away from the name I’ve made. I’m just helping them out.”
The club is expected to announce a new head coach soon, as they prepare for a Week 8 clash against Aduana FC at the Swedru Stadium on Monday.
