President Mahama confers posthumous promotions on fallen Air Force men

President John Dramani Mahama has posthumously promoted three Ghana Air Force personnel who lost their lives in the August 6 military helicopter crash, in recognition of their service and sacrifice to the nation.
Speaking as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces at a solemn interfaith funeral service held at Independence Square on Friday, August 15, 2025, the president honoured the fallen servicemen before a gathering of government officials, military leaders, grieving families, and citizens from across the country.
The Air Force personnel recognised were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Under the promotions:
Squadron Leader Anala was elevated to Wing Commander
Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu was promoted to Flight Lieutenant
Sergeant Mensah received a promotion to Flight Sergeant
President Mahama described the tragic crash as a “great loss to the nation,” adding that the three died in active service while on duty to Ghana.
He pledged continued government support for the bereaved families and assured that the memory of the fallen officers would be preserved as an example of courage, duty, and professionalism.
