Thomas Duah confident about Black Stars’ AFCON 2023 chances
Former Ghanaian international Thomas Duah is expressing his utmost confidence about the Black Stars’ chances at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, aims to clinch their fifth AFCON title, having last won the tournament in 1982, and they are determined to break the long-standing drought at the 2023 edition.
The Black Stars have been drawn into Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Their campaign kicks off on January 14, 2024, with a match against Cape Verde, followed by games against Egypt and Mozambique.
Thomas Duah, now a coach, expressed his optimism about the Black Stars’ chances, emphasizing the intensity and competitiveness of modern football.
“Football has become more intense; so I think we have to give our best to excel at the AFCON 2023”
“I think Chris Hughton can lead Ghana to secure qualification from the group stage at the AFCON. The spirit is always different during tournament so I think things will go on well for us” he told Kessben FM
He believes that with the right preparations and the leadership of coach Chris Hughton, Ghana can excel at the AFCON and secure qualification from the group stage.
Duah also noted that the spirit of the team during the tournament is different and can contribute to their success.
