Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, and MP for Krowor, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has raised concerns about a growing number of infections among female students at Nungua Senior High School, linking the issue to persistent water shortages in the area.

For years, communities within the Krowor Constituency have faced limited access to clean water, a situation the Minister says is not only disrupting daily life but also posing serious health risks, particularly for adolescent girls.

Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Madam Lartey said the recurring crisis at Nungua SHS highlights the urgent need for a sustainable solution.

“Whenever there is a water shortage in the constituency, Nungua SHS is among the hardest hit. I’ve heard countless stories of young girls suffering infections due to the acute lack of water,” she said.

She noted that while she has personally stepped in to provide temporary relief by supplying water through private tankers, such efforts are insufficient to address the broader issue.

The Minister is now calling on the relevant authorities and stakeholders to take urgent action to resolve the ongoing water crisis and protect the health and well-being of students.
