Works and Housing Minister slams contractor over 11% progress on Kaneshie drainage project

Minister for Works, Housing and Natural Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has expressed deep frustration over the slow pace of work on the Kaneshie Lot 1 drainage project, describing the 10-month progress as unacceptable.
The project, awarded to Hydronomics Limited and Vuluxx Company Limited was expected to be completed within 12 months. However, during a site inspection on Tuesday, November 18, the minister revealed that only 11% of the work has been done.
During the visit, the contractor blamed the delays on recent heavy rains, but Minister Adjei dismissed the explanation and warned that the government will not hesitate to terminate the contract if the project continues to fall behind schedule.
“If you don’t get there, then we will all come here again, and we will just let the world know that this is what you said, but you didn’t deliver. We will terminate the contract and let everybody know that Hydronomics Limited couldn’t deliver.
He added that the company’s reputation is at stake. “If you don’t deliver here, you should know that other people will be watching, and it is going to affect your company,” he stated.
The minister’s tour formed part of a broader assessment of ongoing drainage works across Accra as the government intensifies efforts to address the city’s perennial flooding challenges.
