Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has called on Ghanaians to rally behind Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, urging patience and perspective as Ghana prepares for the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Addo has faced mounting pressure following a 1–1 draw with Chad in N’Djamena, a result that sparked criticism from fans and government officials, including Sports Minister Kofi Adams. However, the coach responded with a resilient 1–0 win over Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium, keeping Ghana’s qualification hopes alive.

Speaking to Asempa FM, the U-20 World Cup winner emphasized that Addo’s record is not disastrous and that judgment should be reserved until after the final qualifiers:

“I don’t think the stats show that he has done badly. There is more room for improvement. Let’s wait and play the two matches. There’s more time to deliberate on his future after.”

Badu also acknowledged the coach’s desire to succeed:

“Every work each person is doing, they want to succeed. The coach, too, wants to succeed in his work with the Black Stars.”

Otto Addo has announced a 24-man squad for the decisive fixtures, featuring key returns and fresh call-ups including Alidu Seidu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Kojo Oppong Peprah, and Prince Owusu.

With 19 points atop Group I, Ghana needs just four more to secure a fifth World Cup appearance, and Badu’s message is clear: support now, assess later.
