Drivers Association demands probe into alleged unapproved fuel price increases

By Prince Antwi June 11, 2026

In a statement issued on June 11, 2026, the association’s regional executives alleged that several fuel outlets, particularly those operated by Shell and TotalEnergies, have increased pump prices despite the absence of an official adjustment under the current fuel pricing window.

According to C-DAG, its monitoring activities revealed that fuel prices have risen from approximately GH¢15.60 per litre to around GH¢15.90 per litre at some stations.

The association expressed concern that the increase is placing an additional burden on commercial drivers, transport operators and passengers who are already dealing with rising operational costs and economic pressures.

“This unexpected increase is causing significant hardship for commercial drivers, transport operators, and the general public, who are already grappling with the high cost of living and operational expenses,” the statement noted.

C-DAG therefore urged the NPA and other relevant regulatory bodies to examine the circumstances surrounding the price adjustments and ensure strict adherence to established fuel pricing guidelines.

The group stressed that fuel prices should only be reviewed in accordance with approved pricing mechanisms and within the designated pricing periods set by regulators.

The association further reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for transparent and fair fuel pricing policies while safeguarding the interests of drivers, transport operators and commuters nationwide.

It also called on authorities to take the necessary steps to prevent arbitrary price increases that could negatively impact the transport sector and the wider economy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
11th June, 2026

CONCERNED DRIVERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (C-DAG) REGIONAL EXECUTIVES
CONCERN OVER UNAUTHORIZED FUEL PRICE INCREASES.

The Regional Executives of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana wish to draw the urgent attention of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and all relevant stakeholders to the recent increase in fuel prices at some fuel stations, particularly Shell and TotalEnergies outlets across the country.

Our monitoring has revealed that the pump price of fuel, which was previously selling at GH¢15.60 per litre, has increased to approximately GH¢15.90 per litre despite the fact that the current pricing window has not officially been reviewed or opened for an upward adjustment.

This unexpected increase is causing significant hardship for commercial drivers, transport operators, and the general public, who are already grappling with the high cost of living and operational expenses.

We respectfully call on the National Petroleum Authority to investigate the circumstances surrounding these price increases and ensure that fuel pricing regulations are strictly adhered to by all Oil Marketing Companies.

The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana remains committed to advocating for fair fuel pricing and protecting the interests of drivers and commuters nationwide.
