A recap of Aidan O’Brien’s four winners at Royal Ascot 2020

Aidan O’Brien is one of the UK and Ireland’s best flat racing trainers, and as we get ever closer to the 2021 renewal of Royal Ascot, which will get underway on June 15th, it comes as no surprise to see several of his top horses doing the rounds in the Betdaq horse racing tips.
With seven Ascot Gold Cups, eight St. James’s Palace Stakes, four Queen Anne Stakes, three Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and two Diamond Jubilee Stakes to his name, victories at the Royal meeting are commonplace for the 51-year-old.
So, as we count down the remaining days until Royal Ascot 2021, let’s take look back at O’Brien’s four winners from last year.
Circus Maximus – Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1)
The Irish trainer would have been delighted to get off to a winning start in the meeting’s first Group 1 and day one’s feature race, the Queen Anne Stakes. With Ryan Moore in the saddle, Circus Maximus set off as the 4/1 favourite. However, Frankie Dettori and Terebellum ensured they had to work hard for their victory, as the pair jostled neck-and-neck over the line. In the end, a slow-motion replay confirmed that Circus Maximus and Moore had just edged over the line by a head.
Russian Emperor – Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3)
Moore delivered O’Brien’s second victory of the meeting aboard Russian Emperor in day two’s Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes. Her Majesty the Queen’s First Receiver, trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Dettori, was the 9/4 favourite and it looked set to win as it held the lead inside the final furlong. However, a late charge saw Russian Emperor steal the lead just before the line and just half-a-length separated the pair. The Queen eventually secured a victory later in the day with Tactical in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes.
Battleground – Chesham Stakes (Listed Race)
O’Brien’s trusty first-choice jockey Moore secured their place in the winner’s enclosure again on day three of the meeting. Battleground set off as the 11/4 favourite in the Listed Chesham Stakes and the future star duly delivered. He started to make headway about three furlongs out and despite drifting way left as they headed towards the finish, Moore was able to ensure that Battleground got over the line in first. Seattle Rock veering right as jockey David Egan started asking questions of the Sylvester Kirk-trained horse, who was prominent near the finish, certainly helped.
Santiago – Queen’s Vase (Group 2)
Santiago’s victory in day four’s one-mile, six-furlong Queen’s Vase secured O’Brien with his fourth and final triumph of the week. The three-year-old entered the stalls as the 10/3 favourite to win the Group 2 race. With Moore in the saddle, Santiago was held up in midfield and tracking the leaders for most of the race. However, he was edged into space as the field turned onto the home straight and was challenging for the lead two furlongs out. By the one-furlong marker, Santiago had streaked clear and despite the best efforts of Berkshire Rocco and Oisin Murphy, there was no stopping the O’Brien-trained horse.
