Four arrested over death of defilement suspect in Twifo Praso police cell

Four individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the death of 40-year-old George Anim, who died under suspicious circumstances while in police detention at Twifo Praso Police Station.
Anim was arrested on November 25, 2025, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl in Swedru Akuapem, located in the Assin Fosu Municipality.
Two days later, on November 27, he was found dead in the cell he shared with other detainees.
Family members who identified the body reported visible bruises and bloodstains, fueling suspicions of assault.
In response, the Central North Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Abraham Acquaye, launched an investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that Anim may have been involved in a violent altercation with fellow detainees, during which he was allegedly beaten.
Police investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
