GFA hosts interfaith thanksgiving to celebrate Black Stars’ World Cup qualification

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a thanksgiving service on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Christ the King Anglican Church in Sakumono, marking a moment of spiritual reflection and national celebration following the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Led by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the delegation included football administrators, officials, and supporters, all gathered to express gratitude for Ghana’s successful qualification campaign.
This event followed an earlier prayer session at the Imam Malik Hamburg Mosque in Maamobi on Friday, October 24, underscoring the GFA’s commitment to inclusive spiritual engagement across faith communities.

Okraku’s Address
“We give thanks to God for guiding the national team through a demanding qualification journey,” Okraku said.
“We reaffirm our resolve to develop Ghanaian football at all levels.”
He also extended appreciation to the clergy and Christian community for their continuous prayers and support, encouraging ongoing intercession as the Black Stars prepare for their fifth World Cup appearance.
The church leadership praised the GFA for recognising the role of faith in national achievement, urging continued prayer for unity, success, and national pride as Ghana heads to the global stage in USA, Canada, and Mexico next summer.
