Ludogorets Razgrad winger Bernard Tekpetey has backed underfire Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew to come good ahead of Ghana’s clash against Zimbabwe.

The 30 year old Ghanaian striker is not only having a dry spell for the Black Stars of Ghana but also for club side Crystal Palace.

He has failed to hit the back of the net for the Black Stars since doing so in the CAF AFCON qualifiers on 28th March 2021 against Sao Tome and Principe.

He was tipped as the heir apparent to legendary Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan but has failed to live up to the billing with a paltry 18 goals scored in 69 matches.

Despite the Black Stars beating lower tier side Soccer Intellectuals 8-0, Jordan Ayew was not on the score sheet as he missed a penalty.

Tekpetey says he hopes the former Swansea City striker will discover his goal scoring touch very soon.

Jordan [Ayew] is a good player. He’s a top player in Europe and Africa,” former Schalke 04 attacker Tekpetey, who played together with the former Swansea City man at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, told Goal.

“Sometimes you play against a team, they hear the name and realise they have to pay attention to him.

“With this new coach, I hope Jordan can get his rhythm and play with his quality and come up with some goals to help the nation as well.”

The Black Stars are set to host The Warriors in Cape Coast in a Group C matchday three fixture on Saturday, three days before travelling for the reverse encounter in Harare.
