Pyongyang: DPR Korea’s Ryomyong SC and Wofoo Tai Po of Hong Kong shared the spoils following their 0-0 draw in their 2019 AFC Cup Play-off first leg tie at the Kim Il Sung Stadium on Wednesday.

Both teams are vying for their first appearance in the Group Stage and were evenly matched in the first half. However, they struggled to find the back of the net with the score 0-0 at half-time.

Ryomyong defeated Mongolia’s Erchim FC 6-0 on aggregate in the Preliminary Stage, but the Koreans could not find a way past Tai Po - who are appearing in the Continental competition after nearly nine years - in the second half.

Tai Po will now have home advantage when they face Ryomyong in the second leg at the Mong Kok Stadium on March 13.

The winners of the East Asia Zone Play-off will join Hong Kong’s Kitchee SC, DPR Korea’s 4.25 SC and Hong Kong’s Hang Yuen FC in Group I.
