Andres Iniesta has announced that this season will be his final one at Barcelona and while his next move has not yet been revealed, his 22-year association with his boyhood club will definitely come to an end next month.

The veteran midfielder has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League, as well as a less likely reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Iniesta will take part in his final El Clasico outing next Sunday and he will then have two more games at the Camp Nou before he walks away with his legend status long since established.

Teammates, rivals, managers and clubs have been singing Iniesta’s praises since his announcement but one tribute didn’t quite go to plan.

Spanish second tier side Numancia were forced to apologise at the weekend following a social media tribute which revealed a little more than Iniesta would’ve liked.

A tweet from Numancia’s official Twitter account on Friday showed a bit too much skin and after several supporters pointed out the error, the club issued an apology to the Spanish legend.

The second tweet read: “We apologise Andres Iniesta. It was not our intention. And now that we have realised you are all so great at finding Wally, we want to admire your courage. There are few who equal you.”

The picture of Iniesta’s shorts riding up came from his appearance in Guardiola’s first La Liga game in charge of Barcelona, when the newly-promoted Numancia shocked the Catalan giants with a 1-0 victory.
