AFCON 2017: Ghana clinch 3 points against Uganda
The Black Stars of Ghana got a strong 3-point boost to their African Cup of Nations title ambitions after triumphing over their Ugandan counterparts in a 1:o scoreline in Gabon.
Deputy captain Andre Ayew put the Ghanaians ahead in the 36th minute converting a resultant penalty kick after skipper Asamoah Gyan was brought down in Uganda’s penalty box.
The Cranes put up a fight in the second half making tactical changes to the squad but could not pip the Black Stars to the 3 points who also made midfield reinforcement by introducing long serving Udinese midfield dynamo Agyemang Badu and the bullish Afriyie to ensure that the maximum points got in the bag.

A midfield pairing of Mubarak Wakaso and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey kept the Ugandans at bay for a better half of 90minutes to take Ghana 3 points clear in Group D.
Chelsea loanee Baba Rahman was however replaced earlier in the game by Anderlecht’s Frank Acheampong after sustaining an injury in the first half.
Christian Atsu started where he left off in AFCON 2015 by winning the man if the match award.

Other Group D opponents seven time African champions Egypt and Mali face off later in the evening.
