Ghana legend, Mohammed Polo has admitted that the quality of Ghana football will be affected when it returns after the Coronavirus pandemic.

Football and other activities globally have been halted following the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus leading to a partial lockdown in Ghana.

According to Mohammed Polo, the partial lockdown will affect player quality as the absence of consistent training will lead to rustiness .

“If you stay at home as a footballer over a period, you will definitely be a bit rusty.”

“It is because of contacts among players that is why the football has been temporarily suspended.”

“So you can’t even train or even play friendly matches to keep the players fit.”

“It is a very difficult situation we have at hand and stakeholders must put measures in place when football returns.” Polo told Akoma fm in Kumasi.

The Ghana Premier League had two matches to complete the first round before president Nana Akuffo Addo announced a partial lockdown.

Hearts of Oak were to play King Faisal in Kumasi with Inter Allies awaiting Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Belgian League has been cancelled with Club Brugge declared champions as a result of the pandemic.

Other major leagues across the world have equally been suspended.

The German football has however seen Bayern Munich return to training in batches expecting an announcement for the continuation of the league.
