Expats Saga: Five-member committee set to commence hearing tomorrow
The five-member committee set by the Parliament to investigate the alleged cash-for-seat” saga by the Trade ministry is set to begin hearing tomorrow Thursday January 11 and January 16 2018 at 10 am each day.
The venue for the hearing is Committee Rooms 1-3 of the Parliament of Ghana.
The committee was set up when the Speaker of Parliament called for an emergency sitting on Friday January 6 2018 following the minority’s demand for a probe into the controversial ‘cash-for-seat’ scandal involving the Trades Ministry.
The Trade Ministry is alleged to have taken a sum of $100,000 from Business Expats at the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards 2017 which took place at the Accra International Conference Center on December 7 2017.
The Committee will be chaired by Sunyani East MP, Kwasi Ameyaw-Kyeremeh with representation from the minority as well as the majority sides of the house and will be assisted by New Juabeng South MP, Dr Mark Assibey Yeboah, Adetan MP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, Ketu North MP, and Deputy Minority leader – James Klutse Avedzi and Bolga East MP, Dr Dominic Ayine.
