The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Komenda  Edina Eguafo Abrem in the Central region, Samuel Atta Mills has stated that, Local Government should run bungalows under private entities to prevent low rentals.

The Public Accounts Committee after visiting Ho and having a sitting uncovered that, Assemblies in the some distrcts including Kadjebi, rent out the bungalows of the state at as low as GHC14 per two bedrooms.

Speaking earlier today on Accra based radio station, Mr Mills indicated that, since the assemblies cannot maintain the bungalows in a proper manner, the best way to ensure the survival of the bungalows is to privatise it.

He said, “The Assemblies are not equipped to be renters. What government needs to do is to sub-lease these rentals or maintenance of these buildings to somebody else, let them maintain these buildings and then they could fix a percentage on what employees could pay”.
