68 year old woman accused over the possession of Indian hemp
Patricia Ali, 68 year old woman has faced the Accra Circuit Court based on dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp were found in her possession.
The woman appearing before the court presided over by Justice Aboagye Tndoh pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been granted bail on the request of her lawyer.
The 68 year unemployed woman was granted the bail on three sureties to an amount of GHC 50,000 when her lawyer, Mr Yaw Danquah told the judge that, she was the caretaker of her grandchildren when the parents of the kids are off to work.
Mr Danqah further added that, his client needed medical attention as she she is not in good shape when she appeared before the court on Thursday on May 3.
The Prosecutor, Superintendent of Police Patience Mario, said that the complainant is Major James Afoko who is one of the leaders of Amasaman Divisional Patrol Team had stated that on April 30, the team went on the usual patrol and were given intelligence about the narcotic drug activities of the accused.
Sh further added that, the team followed the lead and conducted a search in the house of the accused and it was discovered that, aside Patricia selling drinks in the house, she has in her possession 69 wraps of Indian hemp as well as a plastic bowl of Akpeteshie, a local gin soaked with some of the dried leaves of the hemp.
Patricia is to reappear before the court on May 21 2018.
