Children, pregnant woman escapes death Koforidua–Adukrom road
A pregnant woman and several children narrowly escaped death on the morning of Monday, June 2, when the Toyota Hiace vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a road accident at Mile 44 along the Koforidua–Adukrom highway.
The vehicle, registered GT 5160-17, was carrying 15 passengers from Ashaiman to Koforidua when it veered off the road and overturned into nearby bushes.
While the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, eyewitnesses confirmed that the pregnant woman and children escaped unhurt. Several other passengers sustained minor injuries.
In a fortuitous turn of events, Eastern Regional Minister ,Rita Akosua Awatey happened to be traveling along the same route to an official engagement in Odumase.
She and her entourage arrived at the scene moments after the crash and promptly joined in the rescue efforts.
The Minister’s team assisted in transporting the injured passengers to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Personnel from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service later arrived at the scene and have since launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
