GWCL workers union retarding progress by opposing me-Afenyo Markin
Alexander Afenyo-Markin has said that his job has been made frustrating by the workers union at the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) as the Board Chairman hence retarding progress.
The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region added that the individuals at the company are being used to retard the development of the company.
In 2018, the wworkers union had called for the removal of Hon. Markin for accusing him of beginning the process that led to the removal of the workers representative on the board as well as signing cheques.
However, the MD of Ghana Water Company, Dr. Clifford Braimah, said calls for the removal of the board chairman was baseless and without merit.
The MP has also stated emphatically that the workers union are always used to oppose any idea that will be brought up to help the company to progress.
He sad “Anytime you want to introduce something new that will benefit the company people who are opposed to it will use the union to attack it, at Ghana Water Company all that it takes for an initiative to die is …. of a union red flag and I won’t hide my feelings.”
Stating this, he added that it will be of high importance if the workers at the company can change their attitude.
