Head coach of the Bafana Bafana, Hugo Broos has admitted he was confused about the permutations going into the final 2022 World Cup game against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Ghana will on Sunday evening host South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium in a make or break clash.

The Black Stars of Ghana drew 1-1 with Ethiopia at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa on Thursday with the draw handling the advantage to the South Africans going into the last match.

South Africa on the other hand defeated Zimbabwe 1-0 at the FNB Stadium same day Ghana drew with Ethiopia as they now have a two point advantage over Ghana going into the last game.

Ghana will need to defeat South Africa on Sunday evening at the Cape Coast Stadium before they can reach the play offs of the 2022 World Cup.

Speaking on Saturday evening during the pre-match press conference the 69 year old Belgian who has never lost a competitive match to Ghana as coach after two matches says he now knows any win for Ghana will be enough.

“It was a bit confusing about the result tomorrow and who will be in the next round. I did my homework and I know (now) that tomorrow a win for Ghana will be enough for them to be in the next round,” the experienced tactician said.

“For us, we have to avoid defeat. We know we are playing a strong team, with players in Europe, and with the experience they have. We don’t have that, we are a new team, a young team, but a team full of ambition,” Broos added.

If Ghana beat Bafana Bafana by a one-goal margin on Sunday, they’ll rise to a +4 margin in the final score, and South Africa will drop to +4 (both at thirteen points).

The next criteria is the most goals that are scored within the group.

At present, the two teams, Bafana as well as Ghana have six goals apiece, which means they are both in the same position. Black Stars would improve by one with a win , and will advance.

Today’s clash will kick off at 19:00GMT at the Cape Coast Stadium.
