Thomas Partey sacked from Black Stars camp by C.K Akonnor

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has reportedly been sacked from the Black Stars camp after turning up late for Ghana’s two friendly games against Morocco and Ivory Coast.

The player is said to have reported to the Black Stars camp in Cape Coast with just two days for the team to play their first game against Morocco on Tuesday.

Partey has been in the country for some time now after the English Premier League ended on Sunday 23rd May, 2021 against Brighton.

The Black Stars coach C.K Akonnor who wants to bring discipline and sanity into the team decided to turn away the Arsenal star as his commitment to the national cause has also been questioned moreso with Partey being the deputy captain of the team.

Arsenal who failed to make the European places did not have any commitment at club level after the Premier League season ended but chose to stay away from the team and showed up just as the team was just about to enplane to Morocco.

According to reports Partey has been growing some cold feet about going to the Black Stars camp for the friendlies reasons why he reported late.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew who was given an extended break due to his involvement in the Championship play offs with Swansea has joined the rest of the squad.

While players like Samuel Owusu of Al Fayha and others have all joined the team for the Morocco trip.

Ghana will play Ivory Coast on Saturday after facing Morocco on Tuesday.
