W/R: Gospel singer named as leader of gang that killed a police officer in a robbery
A robbery that took place at Bogoso in the Western Region has led to the arrest of five suspects who eventually named a gospel singer as the leader of the gang.
The name of the gang leader was given as Kwaku Mintah.
The robbery was carried out on Sunday April 29 2018.
The suspects who were arrested in a taxi have denied robbing an amount of GHC 900,000 as reported by the police, saying they made away with GHC 420,000 which they shared among themselves.
They said they were ten in number and were lodging in a hotel at Bogoso where they planned and carried out the robbery at the Plant and Plume Refinery Company Ltd, a gold refinery company.
The suspects while carrying out the operation shot and killed a police officer with the Tarkwa Divisional Command.
The name of the deceased police officer is Lance Corporal Nicholas Duku.
Frederick Mensah, 32; Bismark Opoku, 34; Charles Kwesi, alias Yaw Laryea, 20 and Mohammed Dauda, 32 are the names of the four suspects in police custody.
